Day Twenty

Bienvenue en Louisiane--home of beignets and voodoo.

Day Nineteen

Remember the Alamo! and San Antonio Missions.

Day Eighteen

A tour of the Big Room at Carlsbad Caverns, where it was a cool 55ยบ, and then a glance at the temperature outside, where it was slightly hotter.

Day Sixteen

A brief stop at the Hoover Dam (it was 110 degrees around 1 PM--we never set the car clock back) and an evening watching the sun set on the Grand Canyon.

Our newest addition

We picked up a hitchhiker along the way (I won him in Vegas by throwing a dart at a balloon.) His name is Wallace. For those of you who are big Veronica Mars fans, "Except I want my teddy bear won through some demonstration of ring tossing ability." I should have named him Logan.

A brief detour to Paris...

Day Fifteen

A quick romp through LA -- the Hollywood Sign, stars--but no celebrities, and sk8rs at Venice Beach. Spock and Kirk are for you, Dad.

Day Fourteen

San Francisco -- started off rough, with a fruitless two hour walk to try to get ourselves onto the Golden Gate Bridge, but got better as the day progressed. Ghirardelli Square (the plaza, not the tasty treat), delicious (undocumented) clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl for lunch at Fisherman's Wharf, a ride on the cable cars, Chinatown, City Lights Books (a beat-haven), the "Painted Ladies" so prominent in the Full House intro, and a drive over the Golden Gate Bridge (to make up for the morning), with a stop at Vista Point to see it in all its glory.

Day Thirteen

Napa! (Five vineyards in one day!)

Day Twelve (?)

I'm starting to lose track of the days, but that's okay. We'll call this twelve and go from there.

Just a few shots of the Pacific. It seems endless.

Tomorrow: wine tasting in Napa Valley.

Starfish!

My super cool cousin Susan, who hosted us for two nights in northern California, in Arcata, took us to this gorgeous beach this morning, where we found these adorable starfishes.

A big thanks to Sue for showing us a good time and welcoming us into her home.

Day Eleven (Part Three)

MORE REALLY SUPER GIANT TREES. That one there is "The Tall Tree" (um, maybe...they were all pretty tall).

Day Eleven (Part Two)

MORE REALLY SUPER GIANT TREES!

Day Eleven (Part One)

REALLY SUPER OLD TREES (Redwood National Park) and an undocumented Oyster Festival (mmm OysterFest).
